The Dangers of Putting Your Feet on the Dashboard
This is going to be quick but I thought it was something worth writing about. It could end up saving you or loved ones from serious pain, and it’s something that can be easily avoided.
Have you ever noticed how many people put their feet on the dashboard in the car? It’s something I see all the time and I just want to pull their feet down off the dashboard. It’s so unsafe!
Now I’m assuming you want to know why something that seems so harmless is so dangerous. So here it is.
Why You Should NEVER Put Your Feet on the Dashboard
If you get into a car accident and your feet are resting on the dashboard, several bad things can, and most likely will, happen. First off, the airbag could deploy. And when I say it could, I mean it will. Your legs have to go somewhere when that airbag comes busting out, and they’re going to go towards you.
If your knee or leg comes flying back towards your body, especially your face, chances are you’re going to have some serious damage. Not only to your face, but your leg(s) as well. You can have several broken bones and need physical therapy to recover mobility.
Here is a great example of someone that would always put her feet on the dashboard when she was in the passenger seat. She was warned several times by her husband that it’s very dangerous, yet she insisted on putting them up there. She finally regretted not listening to her husband when they got t-boned and her airbag deployed. The woman ended up breaking her ankle, femur, and arm. And it all could have easily been avoided had she not put her feet on the dashboard.
So to save yourself or a loved one from having something like this happen, simply keep your feet (and their feet) off the dashboard.
